Duo, Memrise and practice: I can speak spanish now
I did the whole tree in 5 months but then moved to german and french courses. After nine month break I got back to the spanish course and completed the whole tree again and also completed two (A1 and A2) courses on Memrise (unfortunately these courses are now replaced with something new and I cannot comment on their quality) and took about 15 speaking lessons 1.5 hours long with a teacher in 12 weeks. All courses and lessons were done in English (my teacher teaches both spanish and english so we were able to communicate in english) while my native language is russian. I've just come back from two week holidays in Spain and I can tell you that I am finally able to speak spanish, mas o menos. I am well chuffed indeed!
Congratulations on your Spanish fluency! And thanks for the tip about Memrise! I've been looking for another app to compliment my Duolingo learning.
A1 and A2 courses are still available but only if you search them through google. I think memrise sees that having a full course discouraged some individuals due to the high number of words to learn that is why they've segregated it to 7 lessons to help with the motivations of their users. Anyway, congratulations on you success with the Spanish language and hopefully I could replicate it myself. Salud mi amigo!
I've been doing Memrise's new 7 part Portuguese courses and I feel like this new format is better. It's only a minor improvement on the old ones, but better nevertheless. I read somewhere that the division into 7 parts is to allow people with some knowledge to bypass one or two easily. They don't have a test-out button like Duolingo after all ;).
Congratulations! It's good to hear your hard work paid off.
You might want to try Memrise's new courses. The 6th or 7th parts would be a good review for you.
Memrise courses are very rarely deleted, the ones you used are still there but either renamed or taken off the beginning of the main page.
Viaja a España y quédate a vivir allí unos años, tendrás un buen acento y perfeccionaras tu spanish.
Замечательно!!! Поздравляю!!! Я тоже учу испанский здесь и на Memrise, но пока не было возможности попрактиковаться в реальной жизни. Где вы были в Испании? И что вам понравилось?
RabbitsRabbits mentioned that Memrise courses are rarely deleted (something I've never really thought about). So, as was mentioned, it should be out there somewhere.
As a helpful tip, you may want to do something I do. I keep a spreadsheet of the courses I'm taking, detailing the course with columns of information important to me, including a column for notes where I can add personal thoughts on what I think about the course. I also add a column for the url so I can easily access it at any time.
If that's a bit too involved for you, you can typically access any course you've dabbled in by going to your learning dashboard. If you don't know how to get there, let me know, and I'll lay out the steps.
Congratulations for your achievement! I think that if you want to keep practicing your Spanish you should get language partners on Speaky :)
