I have been learning German for more or less a year now and I do not know if it is a good idea to start learning Dutch because I do not know if i should focus on one language or since Dutch has some similarities to German it would not be a problem!

What do you think??

I'd say if you know German well enough as to not mix certain words or grammar try it. Do it for a few weeks and if you start to mix things up stop and only focus on German.

I think I'd only think that some Dutch words look like German and confuse them with German not the opposite! But i guess i'll give it a try! Viel Dank! :D

It goes both ways. I was very solid on German grammar/spelling when I learned Dutch and one day a German girl told me there's no 'h' on the beginning of erinnern...

Also it became very natural-sounding to me to start "if...then" clauses with "als" and I caught myself making the mistake a few times.
