Is there a reason why the word for women and the word for snakes is so similar?

Similar? I don't see nor hear it. They simply have the same ending, like thousands of other words.

When the entire language is based on three-letter roots, you are going to hear a lot of words that sound alike. Is there a reason why hot and butter sound alike? Or salad and plate? Probably not, but you can use the similarities as helpful mnemonic devices.

Too bad it isn't six or seven; that would make for a fun tongue-twister in english.
