Alright, here are some simple steps to get a keyboard on your computer for Hebrew input.

WINDOWS 8/8.1/10

  1. Open your Settings.

  2. Click on "Time and Language"

  3. Go to "Region and Language"

4 Click "Add a Language"

  1. Find "Hebrew"

WINDOWS Vista, XP, 7

  1. Go to Control Panel.

  2. Under "Clock, Language, and Region", go to "Add a Language".

  3. In that menu, hit "add a language" in the left-hand corner

  4. Look in the "H" section for Hebrew. Click it.

  5. Click "Add"

MAC OSX (Pretty sure this works on all versions)

  1. Click the Apple in the top-left corner.

  2. Go to "System Preferences".

  3. Go to "Language and Text" or "International"

  4. Go to "Input Sources"

  5. Scroll down to "Hebrew"

TIP: To make your life easier, click the "Show input menu in menu bar" checkbox. It will show either a US or British flag (depending on your English region input), you'll be typing in English. Click that, and select Hebrew.

UBUNTU 13.04 and older

  1. Download Hebrew language support. You can do this from the Install/Remove Languages section of "Language Support".

  2. System Settings -> Keyboard Layout -> "+" -> "Hebrew" -> Add

  3. System Settings -> Keyboard Layout -> Options -> Keys to Change

4.Layout -> mark [alt]+[shift] (this step is optional, only if you want that custom keyboard shortcut)

UBUNTU 13.10 and newer

  1. Going through System Settings -> Text Entry

OR

  1. Using the App Indicator by clicking "Text Entry Settings"

Apple iOS (iPad, iPod touch, iPhone)

  1. Go to "Settings"

  2. Go to "General"

  3. Go to "Keyboards"

  4. Go to "International Keyboards"

  5. Find and click "Hebrew"

ANDROID DEVICES (Samsung Tablets/Phones)

  1. Go to "Settings"

  2. Go to "Language and Input" under "My Device" (if applicable)

  3. Click the gear next to the "Samsung Keyboard" (if on a Samsung Android device) If not, then go to the gear next to the "Google Keyboard"

  4. Select "Input Languages"

  5. Scroll down through the "Available Languages" category.

  6. Find the one marked "עברית" and download it. Select it as one of your input languages.

If there are any devices I have missed, feel free to comment them and I will respond to you accordingly. Note that I did this to help people, and not to take up space.

Cheers, and happy Hebrew learning, Ocarina.

Fun fact (at least for Windows users), if you don't mind typing your English answers in ALL CAPS like a crazy person, you don't have to switch between Hebrew and English. Just leave it in Hebrew and hit caps lock when you're prompted to write in English. This is handy for us crazies who are taking several language courses at once and don't like switching through Polish, Vietnamese, and Russian before getting to Hebrew and then switching back when prompted to write in English :-P

For whatever reason, the capital version of each letter is the Latin script corresponding letter on the English QWERTY keyboard. I'm not sure why, but I'm thankful!

You're welcome! I'm also really thankful that it lets you write from left to right when you hit caps lock! Not sure if that's a feature of the text field, the font, or just the input method designed by Windows...or whatever, but it's handy!!
