Groups for Schools to Prevent Spam
Here is an idea I have thought of: since we have received a lot of spam and guideline-breaking from students who signed up for Duolingo, I suggest that users be able to be signed up in a group. For example, Smalltown School could be smalltown0
. Each group has its own moderators and users, and all the discussions would be segregated from the rest of the site.

Edit: Relevant part from Pont: If does seem that Duolingo is working on special provision for teachers and students: http://www.duolingo.com/comment/603171 Interestingly, there are also teachers who seem to be as concerned about protecting their students from the public as we are about protecting the public from their students :-) -- e.g. http://www.duolingo.com/comment/845170 . With luck, DL's efforts in this direction will serve both goals.
Unfortunately, I'm not even sure this will work because it's so easy to make an account. Those types of people will probably post spam regardless just for the heck of it. It's annoying and the only way to prevent this would be making it harder to sign up somehow, which I can't see happening any time soon.
I have seen some teachers' accounts on here, including teachers asking about how they could control their students. Some people here are incidentally teachers in the real world, but there is a surprisingly large number of teachers who try using Duo in the classroom. Most of the chit-chat is through stream comments rather than discussions, but lots of spam has been posted by these people.
