Hungarian Course

I KNOW!!! There is a Hungarian "club" in my town founded by Hungarian immigrants over a hundred years ago. Now I can speak with the members! (although basic 1, lesson 4 just gave me 31 questions, Hungarian grammar=brain shutoff)

Where do I post a new topic? Here? Where did the postposition sentences come from suddenly, without explanation? I am a native Hungarian who spoke fluently as a child. Now at 73 I can still think in Hungarian and understand what people say. I have breezed through the lessons until these repeated postposition words appeared which I swear I never heard in my life. I can translate quite easily from Hungarian to English if I hear the audio but I cannot think of how to use "mellet" twice in the same short sentence!

Here are examples of where I got stumped:

Azok mellett a diákok mellett három tanár sétál. Duo Meaning: Three teachers are walking alongside those students.

I wrote: Azok a diákok mellett három tanár sétál. This sounds right to me.

And Ez allatt a lampa allatt az asztal száraz for "Under the lamp the table is dry," sounds wrong to me.

I am not saying Duo is wrong here because there are many sentences with the same format but I don't know where the explanation is.

In a discussion someone explained "Who is standing next to THE big yellow car?" would consequently be "Ki áll a nagy sárga autó mellett?", and "Who is standing next to THAT big yellow car?" is "Ki áll a mellett a nagy sárga autó mellett?" I wrote "Ki áll az a nagy sárga autó mellett?" WRONG.

I know ez, ezek, az, azok and the list of 20 plus postposition words in my grammar book which lists them but doesn't show sample sentences.

Help please? I have lingots to give! :)
