"You do not like wine."
Translation:את לא אוהבת יין.
So I typed in exactly what it showed me for "you do not'....and got it wrong :(
It's possible your "like" didn't match your "you" in gender. (Hard to know for sure without seeing what you had put, though, but that's a common issue.)
why is the love conjugated as feminine when the pronoun for "you" here is masculine?
It's giving me a multiple choice and all three options are being marked wrong. I can't complete my daily training. Think this needs looking at.
So earlier I did "אתם לא אוהבייו" But now it says "אתם לא אוהבים ייו" And i think they are both right, why? Is this a case of masculine and feminine use?
Well, אתם is plural, so you can only write אוהבים with that. So, it goes like this:
אתה אוהב - masculine singular
את אוהבת - feminine singular
אתם אוהבים - masculine or mixed gender plural
אתן אוהבות - feminine plural
it keeps telling me i got the last word in a sentence wrong when i literally typed the EXACT SAME THING as it's telling me i should have written.
"you not like wine" is how i am reading this translation. how did I get this wrong?
Wellll, I think what is going on here is that "you" can be either singular or plural. So far as I know at this point in the course, we have only been taught you (singular). You (plural) is אתן
Yes, I believe so. אתן (feminine plural) would be used if the group was entirely female, אתמ (masculine plural) would be used if the group was entirely male or if the group was mixed males and females (if I remember my first year Hebrew correctly!)
For the multiple choice both plurals are used and must be chosen to answer correctly. Don't forget to use mem sofit at the end of a word. אתם לא אוהבים יין., אתן לא אוהבות יין.
You have to give the translation in correct English. "You not like wine" is a word-for-word translation, but doesn't make much sense in English. To be a complete sentence you need to put either, "You do not like wine" or "You don't like wine."
Also אינכן is a female and plural while אוהב is male and singular. It'd be either אינכן אוהבות יין or אינך אוהב יין
