I wrote "policeman" and they insisted on "cop". I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but call a policeman "cop" to his face in New York and you'll wind up in jail or worse.

I wrote "will not" and the software insisted that this was wrong and that I should use "won't" instead. This clearly needs to be fixed.
It has been fixed.

a cop is also referred to as an "officer" in the States, and should be accepted
Probably “officer” should be accepted, but one would need to say “police officer” unless there’s already a context that establishes what kind of officer one is talking about.
