End of the course
I just started to learn Swedish from English and it goes pretty nice, easy and well structured. The course has a great effect. I really feel that I learn something. But I want to ask, especially to experienced users: Can an average user be able to speak in the end of the course? What are your experiences? For example, can I be able to read academic papers in the end of sections?
Thanks a lot and good luck with your learning journey! :)
All the best,
Duolingo gives you a good start, but you should look for more sources. I suggest that you start reading Swedish as soon as you think that you got the basics. Start with lättläst, these are books and other texts in easy Swedish, so you can benfit from it even as a beginner. There's even a whole newspaper in lättläst, it's www.8sidor.se , check it out. I did it that way before I started to read "real" books in Swedish and to follow movies on YT and svt.se. If you watch movies, look for those that offer swedish subtitles, that makes it easier in the beginning. Lycka till!
No, Duolingo is not enough. But if you use other sources yeah you will improve fast.
I wanted to ask if you have any advice or not, related to "other sources" as you mentioned above.
These have helped me in the past.
There is an iOS app for SVT news called SVT Nyheter and it is very good for learning about what is currently happening in Sweden!
