"The hotel is a tall building" sounds odd. "The hotel is a big building" would sound better to me
What's wrong with emphasising the height? Some big buildings are not particularly tall, but they're still big. I think it's a useful distinction.
A building can be tall but not big.

Why not this: "The tall building is a hotel"
That would be something like "A magas épület egy szálloda"
...a high building.
...a tall man.
