"A régi iskola egy nagy folyó mellett áll" is listed as correct here.

So does "áll" function similarly to English "stands", as in can it mean "exists"?


I always though of this as building figuratively standing there :) But yes, as far as I could run some examples of English and Hungarian sentences with stand/áll, they work quite the same.


What about "Az úreg iskola a nagy fólyo mellet"?
