A Day of Appreciation...
Sunday is a day to appreciate the hard work of the Duolingo team and moderators...
Superb Owl Sunday!
I do not have enough words of gratitude even if I am at an infantile stage of learning German. Thank you and keep it up
Szia! Én is magyar vagyok :D Más magyarok az oldalon (ha érdekel :) adamyoung97, Nitram15, Levi, Abenhakan.
That is adorable! I'm SO SO thankful for duolingo! I need to use spanish daily for work and this has been a fun place to practice and learn so I want to come back each day. It's been very practical. I use phrases I learned on here quite often. And the discussions have been so helpful. And one of the greatest things about duolingo is how the moderators listen and respond to question and concerns.
I am pretty new to Duolingo (31 days en Espanol), but I love the site, and me gusta futbol americano!
With languages that don't have a Michel Thomas course (best learning method I've found), I definitely am kinda yearning for Duo to have them.
But, when is Duo going to get past this ridiculous roadblock it has with it's antipathy towards properly teaching grammar?
That's the one thing I dislike. Duo is a great for testing your skills and vocab, but it doesn't actually teach you grammar or sentence composition. We're essentially trial and erroring our way over and over, which is not the best way to learn (at least for me). But Duo combined with other learning sources is a good tool.
I agree. We learn much faster when we understand what is going on. I loved the way Michel Thomas explained language structure (he hated the word "grammar") and the verb patterns. Duo is brilliant for practice AFTER you have learned something, but it is not a good way to learn something new.
I suppose It annoys you....but for many of us just ,,absorbing" the language without asking why is the way to go.....we will figure out the principles after seeing them hundred of times
you know, language is made by people and people are usually illogical and irrational
true story: the man who made some grammar rules for my first language (Slovak) was old and senile when he did them.....but he had many fans and supporters and now, after 150 years nobody dares to change them although they are ridiculous and the language would work perfectly without them!
Ha! Like the editing you made on the Duo owl! I presume you used 'paint'?
Thank you so much! I am enjoying DuoLingo very much, and am learning a LOT. I appreciate the DuoLingo team. Enjoy today!
