Beware! נקרעו means "they were TORN."
הַסְּפָרִים נִקְרְאוּ עַל יְדֵי הַתַּלְמִידִים. הַתַּלְמִידִים קָרְאוּ אֶת הַסְּפָרִים.

Students was supposed to concern university students and pupils the school pupils. Is there such a distinction in Hebrew? And if so when should we use סטודנטים or תלמידים?
This was hard to hear; I thought she was saying: "הספרים נקראו לדעת תלמידים.", which I took to mean: "The books were read for the opinion of children."
