Where are the lessons?

Begun Polish, did the first lesson (man, woman, apple, etc) but then the second is a test of things I haven't learned. I thought there'd be lessons/activities before the test.

There are no actual lessons, you learn from the experience of doing the tests. On the website, there are usually Tips and Notes for most skills describing the grammar and other salient points but appart from that the lesson tests are the lessons.

Thanks for the reply Pete, but there's no clue (I'm only a beginner), it just says "What's the English translation for... various Polish words and I have no clues ~ me going to another source to look them up means that there's not much point in using duolingo ~ do you see what I mean? It also won't let me skip ahead to something that I could do.

In such cases, hover over each words, it'll give you hints of what the answer can be.
Then the first time you try an answer (try with the first hint of each words), it'll either be correct (great) or Duolingo will give you the correct answer. Then next time you'll remember more or less and will then be able to answer with more or less help of the hints, and so on.

Duolingo teaches the same way kids learn their own language: just repeating/imitating and by tries and fails. At 1-2 years old, you don't learn with actual "lessons" nor grammar explanations. Same here.
Just follow the method and see where it brings you.

Thanks for that tip, I hadn't realised that it helps if you hover over the words, this obviously has helped me along. Thanks again!
