European Portuguese?

Does anyone know if there are plans for a European Portuguese course?

No, there is none. One reason is that you'll be understood and you'll understand the people if you speak Portugal Portuguese with people speaking Brazilian Portuguese.
The differences are too small (and don't prevent to understanding each others) to justify a separate course. That's Duo position on the question of regionalisms (same with the several Spanish regionalisms, French regionalisms, German ones, English ones etc.)

actually I've heard that Brazilians might have some problems understanding European Portuguese (but not the other way around)

I think it's like French with people from Qu├ębec: we may need to ask to repeat/rephrase some things but we're able to communicate if both side make small "efforts". ;)

Understood..Thanks!.....some of the word pronunciation differences are irksome (for example "de" pronounced as "gee" in Brazil Pt as opposed to "day" in Euro Pt) but i will deal...I like the layout of duolingo
