"Away from the building"

I don't usually like having sentence fragments like these as questions, but it's worth mentioning that "El az épülettől!" is what you would shout at someone if you wanted to say "Get away from the building!"


I'm just guessing, but isn't this 'el' short for 'menj el'? And if that's the case, shouldn't this sentence be part of a yet to come lesson on imperative?


"-től" is the ending meaning "from" in English. "...from the building" like in this sentence, or "Katitól" as in "The answer came from Kati" (one of the other exercizes I've had in this section.)


CJM, I think you are likely to be right, in which case this a useful phrase to learn for its own sake but its a bit naughty to drop into the course at this stage. If this was fragment of a sentence rather than a command then surely "elöl az épülettől" is appropriate?
