I don't think that "harcolok" belongs to the words we have to learn first... or is learning hungarian like a battle and we need this word.

It's a battle/war. If it was a sports event, we'd use "versenyzek", or "küzdök" (if it's a fighting event such as box or karate).

Near means next to it, behind it, in front of it. Somewhere close to the city.

I am fighting next to the city. but it is not the word "fighting" only "fight" and with worth "fight" the answer is wrong !

Sort of. But as cities tend to be large communities with rather diffuse boundaries I'd prefer 'near to' rather than 'beside' or 'next to, which would go better with discrete buildings
