Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2016
Just a reminder that this year's National Eisteddfod starts soon - 29th July to 6th August. It is only 10 minutes walk from Abergavenny railway and bus stations, on Castle Meadows. There are also three park and ride schemes running locally with free shuttle buses to the Maes. The town and local countryside are worth visiting as well.
Apart from being a good show with lots of stands, concerts, activities, eateries and exhibitions of culture, science and technology, there is a dedicated area for learners of Welsh, Maes D.
Thanks for the info, I just might pop along to that and I get back from my hols on the 30th (I'll be skippering a narrow boat arounf the llangollen canal) so hopefull I'll get a bit of practice beforehand.
It is Monday the 1st of August, and the National Eisteddfod is now in full swing - try and come along if you can. Entry is about half-price if you arrive after four o'clock. If you have bought a concert ticket, that will also give you entrance to the whole thing after four o'clock on the same day as the concert with nothing more to pay.
The free park-and-ride shuttle buses to the Maes entrance run every few minutes. They run from Llanelen (A4042 a few miles south of Abergavenny), Penpergwm (on the B4598 old Abergavenny to Raglen road near the 'King of Prussia' pub) and Cwrt-y-Gollen (On the A40 near Crickhowell).
Thank's for letting me know! By the way does any one know how to learn beyond the first three icon's, when I click on them nothing happen's!!
The 2016 National Eisteddfod in Abergafenni has now finished - a great chance to use and practise your Welsh and to hear the full variety of accents and dialects all coming together.
Your next chance will be 4-12 Awst 2017 near Bodedern in Ynys Môn (Anglesey) - https://eisteddfod.cymru/mon-2017
In the meantime there will be a number of national and local Eisteddfodau in Wales, England, Australia, Patagonia, America and elsewhere. Llangollen, in Powys, hosts the International Musical Eisteddfod each year, and the Urdd organise a Welsh National Youth Eisteddfod each year, too.
