Two accounts in Tinycards by mistake
Some time ago, before I understood much about how Tinycards works, I started a deck (just 4 cards) and published it. Then I got much better at making decks and published four or five. I found the first one embarrassing and so I decided to get rid of it. Then I discovered that somehow I had managed to create two accounts with the same username and the same email address. OK, I thought, I'll just get rid of one account, the one that has the embarrassing deck. All my good decks are in the other account.
But I haven't been able to do it. I gave my good account a different username and email address--that carried over into DuoLingo. But I can't log in under the other account.
What can I do?
I haven't' found a way to delete a Tinycards account, but you can delete the embarrassing deck by going to the deck settings (while you are editing that deck), and pressing 'Delete Published Deck".
But I can't sign in to it. When I open Tinycards I get the good account. When I log out and try again, Tinycards wants me to create a new account. It doesn't give me a login button. I can find no way to log into the bad account. Ugh.
If I were logging in via a browser, I would just use a different browser -- one that didn't have my login & password for it. But it's an app on my iPad. I could solve the problem -- maybe -- by deleting my second account and then the first one and starting over. But that means losing a lot of work. Ugh again.
jimnicholson -- The "forgot password" option comes up when you enter a username/email address. I don't get a chance to do that. I either open directly in the second account (the "good" one), or, if I log out of it, I open in "Create a new account."
Your account https://www.duolingo.com/warnercwhite obviously exists here.
Have you tried seeing if the other 'bad' account exists here? I mean by typing in the profile page web address for it.
If it does exist, perhaps try using "forgot password" on it from the Duolingo web site.
Hi, since this isn't a question about language learning, but a technical question about TinyCards, could you please edit your post and change the topic to "Troubleshooting"? That way it won't clutter up the general forum for people just browsing for language learning tips and stories, plus it will probably help someone else who looks in Troubleshooting when they've got the same question. Thank you!
I contacted Duolingo during the beta about this, and again two days ago. No response yet. (shocking!).
it makes sense, not just for Tinycards technical issues, but ideas, deck suggestions, etc.
Would that we could create forums as we see fit! I'd have one for TinyCards and one for "Want to Practice".
Thanks, Teenage_Polyglot. But since I can't get into the account with the embarrassing deck, I can't edit the deck and delete it as you suggest.
Could you try signing into Tinycards with the username of the bad account (not your email). That should work as well.
