Changing the language
Hey, everybody! I want to create an English-learning classroom for my student, she is Russian, so the language of instruction has to be Russian. However, I can't seem to change this feature because my profile is in English. Is there anything I can do?
Hi, since this has to do with "Duolingo for Schools" could you edit your post and change the topic from "Troubleshooting" to "Educators" (or Education or something like that - you'll know it when you see it).
Duolingo for Schools has its own forum and the folks that monitor it can help with things specific to that platform.
To move a post, if you click here on this light gray word it will take you to information in how to move your post.
If you hold down either your "ctrl" OR "Shift" key, and then click, then it will open the instructions in a separate tab / window , so you can click between the two screens while you edit your post.
I think I have found a potential solution for your dilemma.
Head on over tho https://schools.duolingo.com/, and enter the classroom that your student is in. Go to the very bottom, where it says Classroom Settings.
now, there should be two main drop down boxes. one says Duolingo Language Course, and the other says What language do your students speak?. Set the first one to "English", and the second to Russian.
This should allow you to give assignments that are based on the English for Russian speakers tree. Did this make sense? If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch here or on my stream ;)
according to this comment from staff member, if all the students in the class are following (on their Duo account) a same given course (English from Russian in your case), the classroom should automatically switch to be for that course.
Otherwise you can follow the steps in the top comment of the above link to set it manually.
I am sorry, I have not experimented enough with the schools platform to assist you. I do apologize.
I think I am going to have to leave this. At least for now. I am off to bed. I apologize.
