"Younger than I (am)" is correct, I believe, even if "younger than me" is often heard.

Both '...than me' and '...than I am' are accepted with this one.

"they are younger than I" should be accepted as a correct answer

That form seems to have fallen out of favour in recent years, so we stick with '...than me' and '...than I am'.

Understood – but in that case, is it not a little unfair that 'than I' (without the 'am') appears among the hints? ❤❤❤❤❤-trap hints like this, which fool us into giving inadmissible answers, are far too common in Duolingo, and not only on this course. I appreciate that the writers of individual courses may not have any control over this point, and so I do not want to direct any ill-will at our wise and helpful Welsh guides; but I do wish something could be done about this irritating flaw.

Even if it's "out of favor", younger than I should still be accepted.
