'Young man' is both supplied in the tooltip gloss and rejected in the answer :-)

am I the only one who only ever hears the word "bochur" in the context of yeshiva bochrim?

The word they use in the answer, "guy", is essentially slang in English, although commonly used in informal speech. A far better translation is "young man", although boy should also be accepted.

Why, oh, why do they mark correct answers as wrong?

Bochur is the Yiddish word for boy. It’s not Hebrew but I’m sure it’s derived from בחור but with a Germanic pronunciation.
