That comes from "sincs".

If it were nincs: .... nincs gerincük. they have no spine

... sincs gerincük. they have no spine either.

Someone explained it at some another sentence: it is like "sem" is the child of is+nem, and sincs is the child of is+nincs.

So here is the family tree: nincs = nem+van
sem = is+nem
sincs = is+nincs = is+nem+van
