I'm getting confused about the distinction between these adjectives... any tips?
Jrikhal gave a good utility description of the words but just in case you didn't know, beau and bon change based on the noun that follows it.
Beau/Bon - before a masculine noun
Bel - before a masculine noun that starts with a vowel
Belle/Bonne - before a feminine noun
Some uses can be subtle, but as a first step in learning their differences, learn them like that:
- bon (adjective) <-> good
- bien (adverb) <-> well
- beau (adjective) <-> good-looking
