Dinner is obiad, so I call lunch drugie śniadanie (second breakfast)

I'd agree with this but for some nationalities the meaning of dinner/lunch can be understood in different ways. When I'm in Poland then odiad is always the main meal of the day, usually around 3.30 P.M. and drugie śniadanie is before 11.00 A.M. normally. We'll have śniadanie very early as we'll be up to let the chickens out :-)

"Jem mniej na śniadanie a więcej na obiad" is a bit weaker than ale, but could still be translated the same way in English, could it not?

Sounds reasonable, I think we can safely add it. "a" is often explained by saying that it's something between "and" and "but".
