Swedish speaking metal bands?

I've been looking for some Swedish (power) metal bands, but usually they only sing in English, which is kinda not what I'm after. Really the only one I've had much luck with so far is Sabaton having a Swedish version of Carolus Rex. Apart from that, nup. Help would be pretty nice, thanks.

Nice question! We are on the same boat, i love all kind of metal but sometimes i would like to find more bands singing in their mother tongue. Unfortunately i can't give you a hand but i can give you this link with all swedish power metal bands (kill me because i am so lazy to watch all of them xDDD).

"i would like to find more bands singing in their mother tongue" I agree. That thing is soooo sad.

If you need some bands doing metal in french : Gris, Mononc' Serge (& Anonymous). There is also Eths, but I don't like them.

French bands?I got in mind Alcest, my french friend let me know this band some time ago. It's a shoegaze band and i love it; the voice's singer is mesmerizing, you should all their album (especially Souvenirs d'un autre monde and Les Voyages de l'Âme). Even Lustre is one of my fav. swedish atmospheric black metal/ambient band but.....no swedish language :(.

I had a look at the album names of the bands in the Wikipedia category ‘Swedish power metal musical groups’. Raubtier seems to be the only one with Swedish lyrics (despite the German name!).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Swedish_power_metal_musical_groups https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raubtier

PS: There is also a more general reddit thread on bands with Swedish lyrics, but most of them seem to be metal bands anyway: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metal/comments/1sgq4a/bands_with_swedish_lyrics/

Makes sense, Scandinavia is big for metal. And hmm, must've missed that one then, I've been through the entire power metal list on Wikipedia so far =P

Check out "Hel". It is not really power metal, I think this would be classified as "female fronted viking rock/metal".

Some songs i like are: Eldsjäl (=fiery soul), Vakyriors dom (=The doom of Vakyrior), Mörker (=Darkness), Häxjakt (=witch hunt).

An other band is "Njord", Their lyrics clearly have a political message of nationalistic character that one should be aware of. Check out the song "För alltid patriot" (=Forever patriot).

Almost all their songs are in Swedish :D!

I know you asked for power metal but there ain't much of that. Sorry!

  • Falconer (folk, power)
  • Raubtier (power, heavy, thrash, industrial)
  • Svartby (folk, melodic, death)
  • Bathory (thrash, black, viking)
  • Månegarm (viking, folk, black)
  • Meshuggah (extreme, progressive, avant-garde)
  • Thyrfing (viking)
  • Torture Division (black)
  • Shining (black)
  • Siebenbürgen (melodic, black, gothic)
  • Istapp (melodic, black)
  • The Few Against Many (death)
  • Lifelover (black, post-punk, dark ambient)

I ended up here from Google and figured I may as well link some bands anyway, as my search term didn't even include "power".

Sabaton has a Swedish album.

Hmm, yeah, the ironic thing is that I know a lot of Swedish metal bands but none of the ones I know sing in Swedish, only English.

And yeah, the only one I know who sings in Swedish is Finntroll and they're Finnish XD

Sweden isn't really that big on power metal either, more like prog- and melodic death.

It's kinda sad, really. And I'm currently on very limited mobile data so I can't give any a listen right now either. There are some great power metal bands though, Sabaton, Dragonland etc.
