[Suggestion] Live multiplayer timed practice?
Basically it's timed practice but we compete with other people in real time. Psychologically, we are motivated to give more of an effort when we are in a live competition with someone, and this adds onto the whole "gamification" of language learning.
Reward System We can keep playing until our time is up, and whoever wins gets lingots depending on how he or she ranks. So first place would get 3 lingots, second place gets 2 lingots, and 3rd place gets 1 lingot.
Matching System The people who can face each other would have to match closely to each other's levels on the skill tree. If there's a level 25(s) and a level 5 in the match, the lvl 25 would have a time handicap (so if I'm level 5, I start with 30 seconds, while the level 25 starts with 10 seconds). I'm just pulling those numbers out of nowhere, but the idea is that the matching system would proportionally account for differences in levels, and handicap more experienced players accordingly.
I think it would be an awesome idea if this is possible on duolingo, but it's probably easier said than done.
Let me know what you think!
They said they were going to do it, but they haven't :'(
OOH, they actually thought of this! I only suggested this because a lot of the "addicting" games I've played had the elements aforementioned in my post.
Take a look at Tetris Battle app on Facebook for example.
I love that idea! On most sites they have this and it's really effective! :)
I think it's an great idea !!! it's good because you really work on remembering words :)
Upvoting and commenting on this to show my support! Other people who I live with use duolingo, sometimes we use the "refresh skills" exercise and take turns to answer questions on the same iPad. Believe me it is a lot more fun that it sounds!
