I am a book collector and I was wondering what you're favorite books are.
My top 5 is:
- The great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald 2.Sherlock Holmes ( complete works)- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle 3 Dubliners - James Joyce 4 Utopia - Thomas Moore 5 The Gulag archipelago - Alexandr Soltchenytzin
The book I am reading right now: Winnie the Pooh- A.A. Milner
I just finished reading the Millenium series by Stieg Larsson (in French, because I don't understand Swedish), and I loved them, amazing piece of literature !
I also enjoyed The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R Tolkien, but boy ! That was tough to read in English (my second language) ! Maybe I should re-read them now that I master it a wee bit more.
The Perfume, by Patrick Suskind was great, I should read it it its original German, once I get through my German tree here on Duo.
The Harry Potter books are really well written, I recommend them to anyone learning English. I thought it was a bit childish when I saw the first movie (before reading it), but the books are so well written, you end up forgetting that the target audience are teenagers !
The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde was also a great critic of the way certain people live.
And last but not least, one of my favorite books of all time : En attendant Godot, by Samuel Becket (an Irish polyglot author who wrote it in French). It's a theater play, and its minimalist set made me see so clearly all the (physically) nothing there is on stage (which represents so much figuratively) when it's played and the 2nd and 3rd degrees in the text and play just plainly blew my mind in million pieces ! I've seen it live since, and it still amazes me !

If all of these books relate back to Duolingo in some way (say, they were all in the language that you're currently learning), that's great! And you can post that in this forum. But if they aren't related to your learning here on Duolingo in some way, this is not a post for any forum but your Activity stream. If you have any questions, please let me know! ^_^
well four of them are in English which is the language I had to learn before i could use Duolingo :) and the last one is by a Russian writer . And russian is the language i'm waiting for on duolingo
thank you for your reply and advice... i will take your words into consideration for my next posts
