Hi all, it's hard to explain the context here but in short, if one wanted to say for example;
- "I'm an administrator for the Rachmaninov Society" would it be "Я администратор в Рахманиновском обществе" Or "Я администратор в рахманиновское общество". I find the grammar somewhat confusing.
Thanks in advance.
Я администратор в Рахманиновском обществе. (I'm an administrator in the Rachmaninov Society)
Где? (Where? - location) - Предложный падеж (Prepositional case)
But: Я иду в Рахманиновское общество. (I am going to Rachmaninov Society)
Куда? (Where to - destination) - Винительный падеж (Accusative)
Thank you! I wasn't sure about whether to use в or для, so you've answered my question :)
May I ask you an offtopic question: was it just an example or are you really connected to the world of music? :)
I am genuinely an admin for the Rachmaninoff Network, and the Facebook Rachmaninoff Society :) How about you?
I am only a concert goer, cd collector and amateur recorder player :) But it is always great to meet people who are seriously dedicated to classical music.
No way.. what sort of concerts? Here in England the numbers of concert goers is dwindling by the day, it's rare to encounter anybody who attends such things. I love them :)
It'd be sooner: ''Я администратор в обществе им. (имени) Рахманинова'' or ''Я администратор в Рахманиновском обществе''
I don't think that "имени" is appropriate here, because the society is not just named after him (like a school would be), but its activity is directly connected to him.
May be. I don't dare to dispute here, because it isn't clear what exactly the society is.
I should have explained, the "Rachmaninoff Society" is an actual established group. Thanks anyway :)
