What happened to the vocabulary list?
It was one of the most useful tools! That would be great if duolingo staff offered it again.
Some time has now passed since the vocabulary list went missing, please bring back ASAP!
I saw it once. Thought, "hey this is a great resource to have!" Went back today to use it for the first time. And <poof> Gone. Please bring it back.
Agree with everyone here. The vocabulary list was a tremendous resource that I used every day. Please bring it back. I have yet to see any improvements that were given to the users in return for Duo taking something fantastic away. So far it's been a lose-lose.
And me. I've been away for a while and am keen to get back into it again. The vocab list was going to be my starting point.
While it's great to see that improvements are being developed, why take something away before it has a better replacement? I hope there's a way to bring it back SOON! -By the way, we miss it so much because you all at Duo do have done such an awesome job so far! THANK YOU!
Just to clarify something, so there aren't any misunderstandings, please note that I don't work for Duo. I'm just a user like you with a few added toys attached to my account.
I have no idea why it was removed prior to having the replacement ready. You'd have to ask staff that. I could throw out a couple of educated guesses, but they'd just be guesses and still wouldn't be "good" reasons.
Since you said "we are working" I assumed you were part of the Duo Team, thank you for clarifying :) I have specifically sent Duo this question, let's see how soon we get a reply.
Sorry for the confusion. The bolded part of my post is a quote from Luis, the CEO of Duolingo. The quote was taken from the link.
Good luck! ;-)
The vocabulary list is a great resource. I like to read and record sentences from completed lessons using the vocabulary lists. That way I can listen to them in the car to reinforce what I am learning. Please bring the vocabulary lists back. Thanks. Duolingo is a great tool.
I was really disappointed to come back to the site and suddenly see it missing. Glad to know the staff is just working on a new version.
The vocabulary list was helpful AND it gave easy/quick practice time. Regretfully I sometimes do not have the time for a drawn out lesson AND doing a few words was a great refresher. Some days I did less some days I did more. It also encouraged me to visit, to practice, and stay on task/goal/dream. Please bring it back... also I miss the more realistic Duo.
Yes it is a great shame. I was loving this site and learning so much from it with the help of the vocab list but now its absence, and the way Duolingo has ignored requests for information about it, has just put me off coming here. There are other sites that are still trying hard. The team here used to be great at responding and engaging with users. What happened?
I check the site every few days to see if the vocabulary list has been restored. I read the discussions to see if there are any new updates. Does the Duolingo staff read the comments? There are many comments asking for the return of the vocabulary section but I see few if any responses from the Duolingo staff. How does one get a reliable update? Please, someone on the Duolingo staff post a schedule showing the return of the vocabulary page. Thanks
That was not the best decision to take the vocabulary list out :( PLEASEEEEEE bring it back ;(
I give full support to any and all of you. The vocab page was extremely helpful.
Just want to add my voice - I thought vocabulary list was a key cornerstone to the overall learning process. Looking directly at the words you've just learned reinforces memory and meaning. I think it was a real mistake to remove it prior to a replacement. Although I like the new design, I don't understand what's taking so long to bring us a new, and supposedly more integrated, vocabulary list.
I can't help thinking it is weird that Duolingo is staying so quiet on this issue that is so important to so many. Normally the team are quick to answer questions but on this the last I read was Luis' blog from over a month ago.
Totally agree, strange that Duolingo staff is not reacting to such an significant issue..
Still waiting. Has there been any update? I guess I should just write down the words, look up the conjugations and definitions and make some cue cards for each lesson. It was very effective and convenient to have the lists to review right after every lesson though. The hover feature is great for cheating, but it doesn't seem to aid memorization much.
I woke up this morning to discover a redesign of of how we "play" and interact with Duolingo! Really? Where are the priorities Luis? While it may be beneficial to play against a Robot, or with another human, the VOCABULARY was ESSENTIAL!!! I am not happy.
Is anyone from duolingo even looking at these comments? There have been no activity on the blog since the beginning of the year. The lack of vocabulary is really a burning issue and it is really unfortunate that duolingo seems to completely ignore user opinions. I still can't understand why they would think it was a good idea to turn off a functionality that was very useful.
Can I sign up on e-mail that notifies me when the vocabulary comes back? I would like to start using Duolingo again but I will wait for the vocabulary.
Yes, what happened to vocabulary list? I even wrote to Duolingo and received no response.
I am sick and tired of waiting for the new vocab list. When it left, I hit a brick wall.
BRING IT BACK!
I gave up hearing from Duoling and started adding words to a spreadsheet in Google Drive after each lesson..
I love Duolingo. Every aspect of it is spectacular. Could someone affiliated with Duolingo please give us all the courtesy of a reply to the inquiries about the absence of the Vocabulary tab? Even if a return date is not set yet, some kind of response from the "official" site would be in keeping with the community aspect of the program. Thanks.
I am a bit bummed about this loss, as well. I used the vocab list to practice my weakest words each day before I completed a new lesson. :-(
I've only just started learning, but a vocabulary list would be GREATLY appreciated simply because, well, reviewing would be good!
C'mon Duolingo staff! We need this!
Please, could someone advise an estimated date for the return of the vocabulary tab?
They said they'd bring back the vocabulary lists months ago. I would just write the words and the meanings in a spread sheet.
i agree. It was very useful for providing an overview of the vocabulary you could go off and learn
