German Immersion Sentence Break Problems
I and many others have noticed that Duo does not correctly handle German language dates correctly. Specifically, the form "[day]. [month] [year]" (i.e. 7. Februar 2014) gets broken into two sentences at the period. At times this is only a minor annoyance, but in other instances in creates a lot of confusion for translators because of verb seperation and German word order.
Does anyone at Duo have a timeframe of when this problem may get fixed or if it's been brought to the attention of the people that could fix it?
It seems like a simple regex could solve 90% of these problems as it mostly has to do with dates, although I have seen it for other things as the period seems to be shorthand for the ordinal in German.
I think a "join segments" feature would help. I guess the only worry then would be people abusing it for no good reason.
Yea, I agree. It seems like a lot of people complain about this feature individual, but no single thread on the discussion has gained enough traction to get the attention of the folks at Duo.
