Just wondering if folk could add a reverse tree from Esperanto to English... Seems like all other languages have already (e.g. English from Hungarian, Polish etc.)

I know that almost no users on Duo have an Esperanto mother tongue, but I think the tree could be created because the Esperanto language does not require a lot of special letters.

I dunno if anyone would want to do a tree like this so please upvote/comment if you are in favour.

Thanks!

According to some other post, Esperanto currently has 500,000+ learners. Would a reverse tree significantly reduce the amount of people learning it?

Yes, I know those who want to build the tree will need a lot of effort and determination, so I want to see how many people can do it. 21 people so far - according to upvotes! :)

I think a reverse tree would maybe increase the amount of people who want to learn it. The first thing I look at when starting a language is if it has some form of reverse tree. For instance, I plan on learning french, spanish, and italian. I can learn (eventually) all of these languages from each other and to and from english. This gives me more practise with each of them, and hopefully will eventually make learning a lot easier. But, the reverse tree thing is just in my opinion. It would be a great idea, but I think maybe the other incubator courses should get time to finish before a new set is proposed. (I have upvoted you and given you a lingot :D)

I guess I somewhat agree, I'm not quite sure. I just feel like the other languages in the incubator should be put first, and other languages that are used that are important and not on Duo. In some amount of years, having a reverse tree would seem like a good possibility to have, but we don't need it as much as the other ones. Esperanto speakers are usually bi or multilingual, and we already have a spanish one coming out. Plus, if more practise is needed, there are sites like lernu and people that know Eo and would be willing to talk to someone and practise with them.
So, to summarise, maybe it could be considered in the future as it isn't a pressing issue now.

If you know enough spanish, there is a spanish to esperanto tree coming out. There probably wont be an "X for Esperanto speakers" list of courses for a long time, though.

Thing is: I do not know enough Spanish nor Esperanto so the tree, whenever it comes out, will be pretty hard! :)

Maybe when that tree comes out you can use it to learn Spanish! this whole comment thread seems like an interesting idea, as you can see from my flags though, I'm not good enough to contribute yet.

It would be nice wouldn't it? I wouldn't mind helping making such a course.

Estus pli interese lerni aliajn lingvojn el esperanto.
