What´s your favorite word in English?
For me that changes from day to day and in fact minute to minute, however....
Right now I am enthusiastically rolling a most smooth word up and around in my cranium...
And that word is: solipsism
Charming Tiger, Have you a friend that might like to play with ... 'solipsism' ?
I do not know why I thought it has something to do with Leopard...LOL...it's a good one, yeahp...
Great word - one of my favourites along with obstreperous (hey, they are both "ob..." words; just noticed that ;D). Psephology is another good one - we have a friend who is a psephologist.
Probably my most loathed & "over-used" word is nice. When fluent English speakers describe a magnificent landform, sunrise, etc as "nice", I want to throttle them (then give them a thesaurus ;D).
"Love" is a beautiful word. I love [;)] "elegant".
I bet you know English more than what your "level" says. When my Spanish 'level' said "12", I never dared say anything in Spanish, much less two sentences! :D
Tessbee :) I was coming up with the days. And now like me also Together
This is a fairly difficult question since favorites are typically such fleeting things. That said, I would say at the current time I find the word callipygian to be a strong contender. It is one of those words that is very specific and has limited use, but concisely describes a concept that otherwise takes several words.
I´ve been studying English for many years, but not regularly. Four months ago, I discovered Duolingo and all was diferent.
I have some favorite words. Today, my favorite word is: "crab"
My favourite word is "intelligible", the way the word is constructed is very clever too
my favorite word is "wit" his meaning is more intelligent but in the expressions, personality, actitudes, etc no?
For me, wit is intelligence. "He kept his wits about him during the crisis." "He was a dimwit." Wit can also refer to one's good sense of humor - "He was witty"
Exacerbate because I remember when I learned it. Ameliorate because it is the same word in French and makes me sound intelligent when I say it in English. It's the regular French word but a fancy word in English.
Jajaja! Enrique! yo tampoco hablo ingles! pero estoy tratando... :) Si que me hiciste reir!!!
Sadness, that's my favorite word in english. i think that word seems its meaning very well! by the way, i'm not sad every time
