Learning Danish at an Academic Level

I am a student in the US and am currently learning Danish, I am wondering about how long if I practice everyday, should it take to learn Danish at an academic level. Are there any online classes to help me with this? Also is there any language learning programs other then duolingo that will help me get there?

I can highly recommend you try to find things to watch on TV in danish. If you have netflix, check out this website: http://instantwatcher.com

At the top click on Search - Under all of the options you can choose you'll see Language Audio - Currently 17 things available in Danish on Netflix.

When I first started to learn French, I watched everything I could for hours on end in French with french subtitles, and translated every word I didn't know.

I would first see how much can understand from the danish TV Shows. Spend as much time as you can watching everything available.

If you want it to be free, options for intermediate level Danish online are somewhat limited. There are some good paid options. I took, for example, Lære Dansk, http://laerdansk.dk/sprogcentre/netdansk. Good, but not cheap.
