I like Günter Grass. Which one is he?

German-Kashubian, according to Wikipedia ;)

Yes, I know but you have to admit he is very much in between. His books are often set in or around Gdańsk with a mix of German and Polish characters. He spoke Polish and Kaszubian as well as German and so on...

His Kaszubian gives the biggest problems to translators

I would have loved if he had integrated more passages in Kaszubian, rather than just recounting how Oskar's grandmother cursed in it. It's the same with Lower German in the Buddenbrooks, or any fictional language in the Lord of the Rings. Authors are always so shy about using languages in their texts, it's a pity!

That's a no brainer

The answer sounds and looks like an unfinished sentence. Polish or German literature , what?

The person who asks the question is propably asking if you prefer Polish or German literature

But it lacks a verb. Hence, without context, you cannot tell what is meant. Pragmatism does a lot of work in this open question...
