"Ο αετός δεν είναι μικρό πουλί" sounds better

That moment when you're typing away in English, and look at the screen, and realize you're using the Greek keyboard!

I wish I could count the times. :-)

With Firefox and Chrome you can use the Add-on "DuoKeyboard" and your problems are gone...

How true. I had the app at one point then with various crashes etc lost it and never reinstalled it.

so many times.......

I mistook πουλί for chicken three times as chicken in French is poulet and in Spanish is pollo.

Ο Θαλασσαετός του Στέλερ.

Well, no it's not small!

I wish duo would occasionally use two similar confusing words in the same sentence, such as eagle and reptile. I never remember which is which because they always look like the same word to me when alone.

The animals of the start are not the same of the aninals in the first sentences. It is quite difficult to learn like this

Could you specify what you are referring to as "the animals of the start"?

I think July refers to the first questions of this round of activities, the ones which ask which of the images contain the animal in the question.

This would contrast with the first sentence questions, that indeed use animals not seen in the previous, image related questions.

As a language teacher and student, though, I think guessing based on previous knowledge and context is an important excercise and should not be seen as problem to be fixed in duolingo questions

Is there elision between είναι and ένα?

Not in the audio for the exercise, otherwise yes: "Ο αετός δεν είν' ένα μικρό πουλί."
