This word is so different from Ancient Greek ἄνθος!

Άνθος is still used in Modern greek but in a slightly different context. P.e. If you want to say "I bought flowers" you will say "Αγόρασα λουλούδια", but if you want to say "the cherry tree flower" you will say "το άνθος της κερασιάς" with "λουλούδι" being viable too, but not prefered.

Thanks again for the explanation. Are you a native speaker of Greek?

I feel like κερασιάς is the root for English's "cherry", German's "Kirsche" and French's "cerise" :)
