Esperanto

Duolingo's great! I'm looking forward to learning Esperanto here, and I hope it will be added to the incubator soon :) I'm sure some of you would be interested in such a course, wouldn't you? Feel free to express your thoughts! Thanks

Yes, I would, too. There have been some other discussions about this (such as https://www.duolingo.com/comment/18091), and really, who doesn't oppose it? If only I could speak it, I could add it to the Incubator...

Thanks for the link. Well... While we are waiting for Duolingo, the best way to discover EO remains Lernu.net. Besides, according to lernu's forum, there are several fluent esperanto speakers who have already applied for the incubator.

can someone explain me why esperanto is so popular? I first time hear about it here on duolingo. All i get is that it's made up language, no native speakers, probably no use of it, so why would anyone want to learn it?

I just dont get it :D

Well it's not just a new trend, Esperanto is more than a century old. Every person who decides to learn it does it for its own reason and can find its personal use of it. For instance, mine is that it is incredibly easier to learn than any other language. It does not exist to become a national language, it is here to facilitate communication between people who do not have the same mother tongue. By the way, there are some native speakers because I know one girl who is native and my age ;) not a lot I agree, but still a few thousands.
