German music

Hi! I'm really trying to learn German, and after learning Spanish I realized that a great way of learning and put your mind into the language is to listen to some music in that language. Does anyone here know of any great German songs or artists?

It would be nice if native Germans create a page about German folklore and traditions, not just music. It will be fun studying German by learning more about their culture.

If you have an apple music subscription, simply pick a Deutsche music or any of the artist @MidnightCrown suggested and "start a station". Also sub german movies.

I prefer video since even when I don't understand I can generally guess at what the words should be. But there is a lot of music on YouTube just enter Deutsch Musik or German music.

If you find German music you like, I suggest using Last.FM to find similar stuff:

Phela (Still, Wieder Alleine), Rammstein (Rosenrot, Mann Gegen Mann, Keine Lust in that order), Tomte, And One (Steine Sind Steine) to name a few.

I wonder, I see that some German artists capitalize all words of songs or titles like we do in English but some don't. Or maybe this is just Spotify being insensitive to other languages?

Rammstein was the first which comes to my mind, but there are several great German band or singer such as Die Toten Hosen, Kraftwerk or Nina Hagen, Nena, Die Ärzte, Einstuerzende Neubauten. If you like the folk music, then do not miss DJ Ötzi, the Austrian entertainer, and singer :) Have fun!

Hmmm, what about Sportfreunde Stiller. The singer speaks very clearly. It's not everyones genre, but in my opinion the music and the lyrics are beautiful. Silbermond, Philipp Dittberner, Christina Stürmer and Tim Bendzko are also great. Greetings from Germany:D

I recommend Andreas Bourani. He sings very clearly and his music is good. :)

I may reccomend you a lot of different music. Rammstein, for example, are really good for vocabulary, but note, they are from Berlin and they have their own pronounce of word "ich", for example. And german musicians write a lot of lyrics in English.

Here you are some other artistis: - Nena (pop, new wave) - Die Toten Hosen (punk-rock, pop-punk) - Subway to Sally (folk-metal) - Die Apokalyptischen Reiter (folk-rock) - Unheilig (darkwave) - Deine Lakaien, they also have a little german lyrics, also darkwave - Herbert Grönemeyer (pop)

And you may find something else if you want here http://www.last.fm/ru/tag/german/artists
