A little piece of advice
A few days ago I changed my goal from 20 xp to 10 xp and it has helped so much. I used to do it on and off and never have a streak. But now I find myself actually doing more than I used to with 20 xp. Because I have less of the stress of completing a goal and focus more on learning.
So this is my advice, don't be afraid to lower your goal because it can really change your perspective :)
Actually it was the other way around for me. I used to do 20/day and miss quite a few days. Now i'm doing 50 and i decided that no matter what i'll keep at it every single day. Now i usually do 80-100 per day and even though i sometimes miss one day, i'm back at it the next day
Well, maybe it's not so much the strategy, maybe I just decided I really wanted to learn spanish :) But you're right it's worth trying different strategies and find what works best for you
I've set my goal at 50 and doing fine on it :P. I guess it depends on how much time you have to spend on Duolingo. I've even had a period where I managed to get 500+ every day for a week :P. But I'm not overly rushing for XP, I still prioritize learning efficiency.
I definitely agree keeping a lower goal and focusing on maintaining a streak was much more effective for me so that on my off days when i didn't have enough time to reach 50 xp but i focused on keeping 10 xp helped my not drop the language as i noticed that when i stop doing something regularly i stopped doing for much longer than what was necessary, it may simply be a matter of my personality. I believe it is similar to the story of the turtle and the hare were slow and consistent beats the fast and negligent.
