Actually, in my opinion, this is one of the only contexts in which מסיימת is really preferable to גומרת. But it's just my opinion, many people use מסיימת for every sort of finishing situation. גומרת is a perfectly good word, I use it all the time, if it gives anyone irrelevant ideas it is their problem. :-|
