Hi, I am James from London. Welcome! Bref, je suis actuellement en France, mais je peux quand même t'offrir quelques conseils, en anglais bien sûr !

You need to go out and meet real people, in your area! Some ideas:

  • Try introducing yourself to your neighbours (that can be difficult in London, but you never know until you try!) You could also find out if there is a residents' association / community group in your local area. This will involve you in the life of your street / neighbourhood, and you will meet new people.

  • Do you have a job? If you do, chat to the people you work with. If you are not working currently, I recommend you volunteer, for example in a charity shop.

  • Go to the pub! You're in England, aren't you ? ;) If you don't want to go to a pub alone, try a neighbourhood café, especially one in a park or one managed by the community or a charity.

  • Join a club. If you have a hobby, interest, sport etc or just want to try something new, there is probably a club, society or class for that thing in your area. Go to your local library to find them.

  • Immerse in culture! You're in London, the greatest city in the world (Paris ? Où ça ?), so enjoy it. There is endless life and culture all around you, much of it free or cheap, so go out and discover it (the rest of the UK is pretty nice too, don't forget to travel!)

Si tu ne comprends pas ce que j'ai écrit, ou si tu as besoin d'aide d'une autre façon, n'hésite pas de m'adresser en français sur ma page d'utilisateur.

Thank you for taking the time to respond with relevance. I know, there is a lot of English around me. But it is not easy to reach out to others and make friends. Your tips are really valuable. I just have to find an activity that I like and that will allow me to meet other people. Sorry for my bad english.

You're very welcome. It's never easy to make friends at first, of course. I was in the same boat (the same situation) when I first moved to France. But you just have to get on with life, and treat everything as an opportunity. Like I said, if you want any practical advice about living in the UK, you can ask me any time. Your English is excellent, and it will get even better over the next few weeks and months :)
