Is there some meaning here that I'm missing? Is the tall grass up somewhere high?

Nope, you are not missing anything. It should be "off the grass". One of the translations of "off" is "le". In the sense of removing something.

it doesn't make any sense in hungarian either. The correct sentence would be "kisietnek a magas fűből"

Maybe. I HEAR "lesietnek." But who knows? "Elsietnek" makes more sense.

Vendégek Lilliput országából.

"A katonák és a turisták elsietnek a fűről." would make more sense. They are then hurrying "off" the grass

The raptors are coming

I think this sentence might be trying to ensure we can hear the difference between the words "farol" and "furol". Hurrying down form a tall tree makes more sense. They do sound quite different of course, but its the only logic I can think of justifying this very strange sentence.
