great is just as good a translation as big for גדול. Come on people!

Or large. A large audience, etc. Big audience sounds wrong (but that was the only choice available on the Android app).

We tend to pair certain words such as "large audience" vs "big audience" based on what's more pleasing to the ear.

I don't see the word גדול here --> רב

To me the audio sounds like there is an added "a" vowel sound after the word "audience" (קהל), which makes the sentence sound like (קהלה רב) or (קהל הרב).

Is the same word used for both ideas and community?

Community=קהילה. Audience=קהל. Ideas=רעיונות. (Idea=רעיון)

Ok, but a second ago Duo defined קהל as crowd, not audience.
