Translation:Where is my cat? She is in my garden.

Why not "Where is my cat? It is in my garden." - I was sure "the cat" = "it"


strictly speaking it can be either. but with a pet it might be more normal to use he/she rather than "it", especially as I think they're trying to illustrate the difference between "le chat" & "la chatte".
