communicate with students on DuoLingo

Is there a way to communicate with students using DuoLingo? I am out on a long-term leave, and I'd rather communicate with the student myself rather than have the sub do it.

You can post on the students' stream. The student should also get an email (as long as that notification is on in settings). But note that everyone can see the message you post, if they decide to look at that person's stream. This is the only way you can talk to people on Duolingo, except using the forums, which in this case you would not use.

Hope I helped =D

Just tagging onto that, for students to turn on notifications they can hover over their username where it appears in the blue bar at the top of the screen. This activates a drop down menu. Choose "settings" on the list. Then, "Notifications". The direct link is http://www.duolingo.com/settings/notifications :)

If they do not want the email notification mixing with their inbox, they can create a filter. http://duolingo.wikia.com/wiki/Filtering_emails_from_Duolingo
