A useful sentence, under certain circumstances.

Why is the male speaker speaking in an excellent pace, while the female speaker speaks so fast I NEVER understand it?!

I wrote “The police officers are able to hear us” and it said it was wrong and suggested “The policemen are able to hear us.” Reported. And here it says it should be “The police officers can hear us.” I guess I tried just the wrong combination of wording that isn’t in the system yet.

Can hear us How about Are able to hear us

"are able to hear us" is also one of the correct answers here. If it did not accept it for you, you must have made another mistake.

"The cops may hear us" is not accepted...

I don't think "may" is a good translation of יכול.

Well, maybe you're right. But what is the correct word for "may" in the sentence like "he may or may not hear us"?

For example:

הוא עשוי או לא עשוי לשמוע אותנו

הוא עלול או לא עלול לשמוע אותנו
