Doesn't this mean "permanent" rather than forever? What's the difference between this and mãi mãi?

Vĩnh viễn being a Sino-Vietnamese term has more weight behind it. It sounds much more emphatic. Permanent is more-so lâu bền or vĩnh cửu.
