Help me out please
hi i wonder which ones is correct of if both are correct:
je parle francais or je parle le francais?
(with the weird accent on the c)
Both are correct but Je parle francais is like the informal or the language in the street. On the other hand, je parle le francais is still correct but its like in formal speeches as it is grammatically more correct.
For the weird c accent it is ç ( cedilla )
It is used to diffrentiate between the "k" sound and the "s" sound. C could be pronunced in three ways: (K, S, SH).
K when in a word theres a vowel infront of it | Cadeau- École
S when there's that accent (a little "s" sign under the C) [Ç] | Ça-Reçu
SH when the word contatins "Ch" or "Sh" | Shaman-Douche
Notice that there are some exceptions, such as "ici- S"
You don't really have to rely on my reply...... bc im just a B1 so im yet good at french so just dont rely on each and every word i wrote
Hope it helped
Both are correct but to be clear, in je parle français, français is an adjective. So it means I speak french. Je parle le français: le français here is a noun, the french language. So it means I speak the french language.
I find it funny how I am on Level 4 in French, yet I just learnt how to say, "I speak French" from this thread. XD
Thanks, sjimsjam! ^-^
Here's a lingot! : D
Hi sjimsjam. The ç is called a cedilla, it tells you to use a soft "c" as in the sound of an "s" when you are pronouncing the word, as opposed to a hard "c" as in the sound of a "k". Hope this helps. You can print the cedilla using a Mac by holding down the "option" key then pressing the "c" key. Not sure how to print it with a PC. Good luck in your studies.
Both are correct, but the first is informal, like your talking to a close friend. The second is formal.
