Without using "Y" how would you distinguish between "The Welsh Flag" Red Dragon (official) and "A Welsh Flag" Saint David's Cross (unofficial) ? E.g.: "The Red Dragon is THE Welsh Flag, the Saint David's Cross is A Welsh Flag."

Three expressions:

  • baner Gymreig - a Welsh flag
  • baner Dewi Sant - St David's flag
  • croes Dewi Sant - St David's cross

Da iawn, diolch. So "Baner Cymru" is THE Flag of Wales whilst "Baner Gymreig" is any other Welsh Flag (St. David, Cardiff, Gwent, Pembs, Owain Glyndwr, &c.)
